Casualties of War, Part II: Warning Signs
July 28, 2009 at 10:29 am | In Domestic Violence, Military | Leave a CommentThere it is —domestic violence is considered just a “little problem.”
It may start with a soldier showing up to work reeking of booze, getting arrested for domestic violence, or mouthing off to an officer.
“When a guy who had it together starts showing little problems, it could be a sign of something much bigger,” he said.
Mike Ellis and Associates, Inc. –worldwide reputation for WHAT?
July 22, 2009 at 7:35 pm | In Assholes | Leave a CommentMike Ellis and Asses promise to be reliable and ethical. They claim to have a “worldwide reputation built on honesty and integrity.”
Just not smart enough to check any facts?
Or just sending lies and thinking we are gullible enough to believe crap like that?
Doesn’t seem ethical to me….
According to factcheck.org this entire email sent by Carl Shore, the Vice President of Mike Ellis and Associates, Inc., is full of bullshit. What an ass.
I won’t be recommending them to any of my clients.

Subject: FW: SENIOR DEATH WARRANTS
SENIOR DEATH WARRANTS:
The actress Natasha Richardson died after falling skiing in Canada . It took eight hours to drive her to a hospital. If Canada had our healthcare she might be alive today. In the United States, we have medical evacuation helicopters that would have gotten her to the hospital in 30 minutes.
In England anyone over 59 cannot receive heart repairs or stents or bypass because it is not covered as being too expensive and not needed.
Obama wants to have a healthcare system just like Canada ’s and England’s.
I got this today and am sending it on. If Obama’s plans in other areas don’t scare you, this should.
Please do not let Obama sign senior death warrants.
Everybody that is on this mailing list is either a senior citizen, is getting close or knows somebody that is.
Most of you know by now that the Senate version (at least) of the “stimulus” Bill includes provisions for extensive rationing of health care for senior citizens. The author of this part of the bill, former senator and tax evader, Tom Daschle was credited today by Bloomberg with the following statement:
Bloomberg: Daschle says “health-care reform will not be pain free. Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them.”
If this does not sufficiently raise your ire, just remember that our esteemed Senators and Congressmen have their own healthcare plan that is first dollar or very low co-pay which they are guaranteed the remainder of their lives and are not subject to this new law if it passes.
Please use the power of the Internet to get this message out. Talk it up at the grassroots level. We have an election coming up in one year and nine months. And we have the ability to address and reverse the dangerous direction the Obama administration and its allies have begun and in the interim, we can make their lives miserable. Lets do this!

Obama: Beneath the Center-Left Rhetoric, Rightwing Policy
Obama? It’s too soon to express a definitive opinion, but the enthusiasm he arouses is largely unmerited.
His charm, tone and intelligence captivate. The symbolic power of a black American president is undeniable. Nonetheless, the acrobatic quality of his approach, masking right-leaning policy under center-left rhetoric, invites caution.
His rejection of torture is categorical, eloquent and in flagrant contradiction to his support for the “rendition” program that sends terrorist suspects to be tortured in friendly countries. His populist remarks against Wall Street excesses translate into measures that, in fact, reward those excesses. His soothing speech in Cairo is served along with increased bombing of Pashtun lands. His plan for withdrawal from Iraq goes hand in hand with a defense budget $20 billion higher than Bush’s.
Barack Obama is the most talented politician of his generation. His mastery of the straddle is formidable, but the prolonged practice of this dangerous exercise rarely ends well. For the American left, “Yes we can” runs a strong risk of proving to be a Siren song.
Baucus kisses more Republican ass
July 18, 2009 at 8:50 am | In Politics | 2 CommentsIn particular, Baucus said that President Obama’s opposition to capping the tax exclusion for workers’ health benefits has made it tougher to come to terms with the bipartisan group.
“Basically, I’m saying the president is not helping us. He does not want the exclusion [capped]. That’s making it difficult,” Baucus said.

“With the tax exclusion off the table, it still is difficult to come up with the revenue measures and other savings measures … to get to the bottom line, which is under a $1 trillion bill,” Baucus said.
Obama campaigned against Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) plan to replace the current tax-free status for workplace health benefits with a tax credit.
Though Baucus never proposed to go that far, he and his core negotiators were seriously considering a health benefits tax until Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) sent word last week that Baucus needed to look elsewhere.
Again, Baucus backpedaled. “Is the exclusion totally off the table? No, it’s not totally off the table,” he said. Conrad, for example, has floated the idea of limiting the tax on benefits valued at more than $25,000 a year.
Obama has proposed raising $317 billion by capping itemized deductions for wealthy taxpayers, but Baucus has never warmed to the proposal. “I tell you, that’s on the table but there’s very little interest, there’s very little support,” he said.
